So Spring Fling was on the Quad today, with numerous “rides” (a rodeo bull that seemed to work for only half of the afternoon, a velcro wall, and an inflatable obstacle course), student organizations, music, and people.
The rides were decent, but weak compared to last year’s, which had a real moon-bounce, one of those gladiator style fighting rings with foam bats, a rig where you get strapped in and then can jump and flip around, and another device where you strap yourself in to a giant rubber band, and then try to run as far as you can before getting snapped back.
The music was also not so great…it seemed as though the DJ(s) were playing music they liked, instead of catering to the tastes of the audience, but that’s just my opinion. The student orgs that were out tabling, however, had some awesome give-aways and prizes and activities. They were probably my favorite part of this year’s Spring Fling.
The Sodexho BBQ afterwards was tasty, and the weather was surprisingly accommodating - I expected it to be chilly and cloudy, but instead it was warm and sunny the whole afternoon!
All in all, it was a much needed break from the stress of Week 5, which has had me running all over the place with endless work. Next year though, it would fun to have more games.
What are your thoughts, and what do you think would be nice to see at next year’s Spring Fling?
